Ruroc - RG1-DX & ShockPods.
RG1-DX
Ruroc's ageing Ski/Snowboard helmet and its new lease of life.
Incremental changes were made to an already ageing helmet. These changes allowed us to keep this helmet striving, and thriving after nearly 12 years on the market!
The helmet is now more popular than ever thanks to new paint schemes, RHEON safety liners, vastly improved quality of all components, and an all-new ShockPods Audio Device. This all took place whilst keeping costs as low as possible without the need for re-tooling the helmet.
My involvement:

ShockPods & Shockwave Audio Device
Shockwave is Ruroc's very own audio and communications device that attaches seamlessly with Ruroc helmets.
During my time at Ruroc, we launched three variants of these units to combine with each helmet design; RG1-DX, ATLAS & Lite.
There were multiple limiting factors to bear in mind with this project from the get-go; Safety was the driving force, and snow compatibility of the equipment was a challenge. Fit & function also had to be maintained in historic versions of the RG1-DX helmets, which were never designed to accommodate an audio device.
Shockwave audio and communications devices have been a huge success - roughly 60% of helmets are now sold with a Shockwave or ShockPod unit.
